Getting started
How do I add my first home?
After signing up, tap "+ Add home" from the dashboard or take the guided setup by clicking "Take the guided setup" on the empty homes screen. Give your home a name and an optional address, then save it. Your docket is ready to fill.
If your home is an apartment or a new purchase, look for the one-tap starter templates (Apartment Move-In, New Home, Vehicles) on the empty assets screen — they add a sensible set of items in one go so you don't have to start from scratch.

What are the starter templates?
When a home has no assets yet, the assets screen shows three one-tap templates: Apartment Move-In, New Home, and Vehicles. Tapping one adds a pre-filled list of common items — appliances, HVAC, smoke detectors, etc. — so you can hit the ground running instead of creating every asset by hand. You can edit or delete any item the template adds.

How do I add an appliance or asset to my home?
Open a home, then tap "+ Add Asset" at the top of the assets list. Fill in the name, category, model/serial numbers, purchase date, warranty expiry, and service interval as needed — none of these fields are required, so add what you have.
You can also use one of the starter templates on an empty home to bulk-add common items at once.

What does "Service interval (months)" mean?
When you add or edit an asset, you can set how often (in months) it needs routine maintenance. Your Home Docket uses that number to calculate when service is next due, based on the date of the most recent service record. Items that are due or overdue appear in the "Needs your attention" section on your dashboard.

Sharing & family
How do I share a home with my family or housemates?
Open the home you want to share, go to the Members tab, enter the person's email address, and tap "Send invite".
If they already have a Your Home Docket account, they are added to the home immediately. If not, they receive an invitation email with a link to sign up and join. Inviting works on both the web app and the Android app.

How do I leave a home I was added to?
Open the home, go to the Members tab, and tap "Leave home". This removes you from that home and all its data — you won't see it on your dashboard anymore.
Note: the home owner cannot leave a home this way. To remove yourself as the owner, go to the home's Settings and delete the home entirely.

How do I remove someone from my home?

What can home members see and do?

Assets & warranties
How do warranty expiry alerts work?
When you set a "Warranty expiry" date on an asset, Your Home Docket flags the item automatically when the expiry is within 30 days. It shows up in the "Needs your attention" section on your dashboard, just like a service reminder.
To add or update the warranty date, open the asset and tap Edit.

Can I add service reminders to my calendar?
Yes. On an asset's page, tap "Add to calendar" to download a .ics file for that item's service schedule. You can also export reminders for an entire home from the home's assets page.
The .ics file imports into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, and any other app that supports the standard calendar format. Recurring reminders are included.

Can I get a summary of everything in a home?
Yes — open the home's Assets page and tap "Export report". This generates a print-friendly summary of all assets, service history, and notes, which is useful for handovers, tenants, or your own records.

How do reminders and snooze work?
When a service interval is set on an asset, the app tracks the due date from the last service record. Due and overdue items appear in "Needs your attention" on your dashboard.
If you're not ready to act on a reminder right now, you can snooze it. Snooze options are: 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, or 1 year. The item reappears on your dashboard when the snooze period ends.

Where are my technician contacts saved?
When you log a service record with a technician name, that name is automatically saved to the home's Contacts list. You don't need to do anything extra — over time, your contacts list builds itself from your service history.

What if a service charge was in a different currency?
Each home has a default currency you can set in the home's Settings. When adding a service record, you'll see a "Different currency for this charge?" option that lets you log the cost in any currency. Spend summaries are shown per currency — the app does not convert between currencies.

I'm getting a weekly email — what is it and how do I turn it off?
Every Monday morning, Your Home Docket sends a summary email listing anything that is due or overdue across all your homes. It's meant to replace the need to check the dashboard regularly.
To opt out, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any summary email, or go to Account → Email Preferences and turn it off from there.

Is there a mobile app? What about iPhone?
There is an Android app, available during beta via a shared APK link. It updates itself automatically — no reinstall needed when a new version ships.
iOS is not available yet. iPhone and iPad users can use the website at yourhomedocket.com, which works well on mobile browsers.

How do I export all my data?

How do I delete my account?
Go to Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to type your email address to confirm. Once deleted:
- Homes you own are permanently deleted for every member of those homes. - Assets and records you added to homes you only joined (not owned) stay with those homes — they belong to the home, not to you.
This action cannot be undone.
