Common questions

How often should home appliances be serviced?

Most need a service once a year: water heaters, washing machines, kitchen chimneys and furnaces, plus a coil clean for the refrigerator. Some need more. Water purifier filters and air purifiers are every 6 months, an AC in India twice a year, and an inverter battery every 2 to 3 months. A septic tank is inspected every 3 years.

What if I don't know when something was last serviced?

Leave it on Not sure. The plan puts it in the first few months, at most three jobs a month, with safety items such as smoke alarms and gas stoves first. That gets you back on a regular schedule without doing everything in one week.

Why does my AC show up in March?

Some jobs have a best season. In India the AC is serviced before the summer heat and again after the monsoon; in the US the AC gets its tune-up in spring and the furnace in fall. If that month is within the next five months, the plan waits for it. If it is further away, the job goes early instead.

Do I need an account?

No. The plan, the calendar file, printing and the share link all work without one. An account is only needed if you want email reminders before each job and a place to keep bills and service history.

Where do the numbers come from?

Manufacturer and service guidance for India and the US: Haier for ACs, A. O. Smith and Voltas for water heaters, NFPA for dryer vents and fireplaces, among others. If your appliance's manual says something different, follow the manual.

More detail on single appliances is in the guides.
