Most warranty headaches come down to one thing: not being able to prove when and where you bought the appliance. Get that right and the rest is straightforward.
Before anything breaks — the one thing to keep
Keep the purchase invoice (the tax invoice, not just the delivery note). It establishes the purchase date that the warranty period counts from, and almost every brand asks for it. A photo of the invoice plus the model and serial number is enough. Extended-warranty documents, if you bought one, go with it.
When something fails
- Confirm the appliance is still within the warranty period from the invoice date, and check what's covered — compressors and panels often have longer separate warranties.
- Raise the claim through the brand's official channel: their app, website, or customer-care number. Avoid random local numbers.
- Have ready: model number, serial number, invoice, and a clear description (or photo/video) of the fault.
- Note the complaint/ticket number the moment you get it — it's your reference for every follow-up.
If it stalls
- Follow up with the ticket number; escalate to the brand's nodal or grievance officer if the first line doesn't resolve it.
- Keep a short log of each call — date, who you spoke to, what they said. It makes escalation far more effective.
